![]() ![]() I love mixing flowers for that “fresh from the cottage garden” look – needless to say, the house smells heavenly right now!Īnd here's one last look at the cake! We had a wonderful day of family, fun and thankfulness for all the joy that my daughter brings into our lives. On a bright sunny morning, Princess Sofia is woken up by Clover, who wishes her a Happy Birthday and presents her with a Propeller Plum for her Birthday breakfast. Patterned paper straws are a weakness of mine, I tend to buy them whenever I see them!Īnd then I just rounded out the decor with lots of fresh flowers in the color scheme and some fun Sofia themed party favors which Target happens to have in abundance right now. We also served kool-aid with some very pretty and fun straws. There were also some chips with Queso Blanco dip – another concession for the grown-ups and my favorites Fried Dill Pickles (not pictured) – hey, don't knock 'em 'til you try them – they may sound strange but boy are the good! The ranch dressing that I had bought was a little on the bland side, so I stirred in a packet of ranch dressing mix and WOW what a difference that made. ![]() ![]() We also had fresh fruits (more grapes and strawberries!), two kinds of pretzels…Īnd yummy veggies! Thankfully, I am blessed with a child who loves vegetables! Thank you Lord!įor the grown-ups I also served some ranch sauce (my daughter doesn't care for that, ha!) that I souped up. I used an inexpensive princess crown from Target to act as an easel for the sandwich chalkboard signs (which were from my Michaels/Hometalk party!) ![]() We had two platters – one PB & Grape, the other PB & Strawberry! (I also scattered a few “jewels” around the buffet for some extra sparkle – my daughter loved “hunting for the treasures!” – ha, ha!) We have a couple of princess dresses that have been handed down to us from her older cousin and I'm amazed at how well the “Disney” dresses hold up compared to others (just a side note!).įor the food, I decided to keep it simple and actually serve my little one's favorites which include Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches. We got this in Disney World and I have to say that while the costumes are a bit pricey (thank you Meemaw for buying this one!), they do have a lot of detail and are sewn very well. Do you see what I mean about the detail of her dress matching the cake!Īnd here is my daughter's gown waiting for her to put on right before party time. Here is one of the many Sofia the First dolls that were in attendance (I think there were at least 4, if not 5 total!). My little one got a little over-anxious in wanting to touch the cake and you see two tiny little fingerprints in it?! Ah, children! Look at the detail!!!! I love this cake so much – I'm so glad I got photos of it! The detail is exactly like the detail of Sofia's dress – wow! And that cake base – don't even get me started on that delicate pattern – I could wax poetic about it for hours!! I don't know how she did it but she nailed it with this cake. Marion has the gift for not only making a beautiful cake but also a delicious cake!! Marion exceeded my expectations with this amazing cake – it was difficult to cut into it because I hated to disturb the beauty of it – but alas, it is cake and we couldn't wait to taste it! It had strawberry cake (my daughter's favorite), with fresh strawberries in it – YUM! and was a hit in every way! I turned to my friend and cake baker extraordinare Marion of Cakes by Marion for our cake again this year (you may recall the amazing Pony Cake we had last year) for help again. We love a pretty cake around here, in fact the cake is often my starting point when planning my daughter's birthday parties and this year was no exception. There is a show on Disney Junior called Sofia the First which my daughter is quite enamored with – at Disney she not only got to meet Sofia (!!!!) but she also got a Sofia the First gown, several dolls, and a few other accessories, so when needing to select a theme for the party – my daughter eagerly chanted “Sofia! Sofia!” My daughter turned three earlier this month and while we had lots of birthday festivities in Disney World (on our trip a few weeks ago) we hadn't had a chance to celebrate with all of our family until this past weekend. ![]()
